A long, long time ago, I received my bachelor's degree at Clemson University as a special education teacher and then my Masters in Inclusion at Johns Hopkins University. I am certified to teach ages five to twenty one and I have tried them all! All ages have their joys and frustrations but I have found myself to be drawn to the one group I didn't get a degree in; the preschool set.
Like many mothers, I wanted to stay home with my children when they were small. So I got my certification to be a home day care provider. It has been a wonderful experience for all of us. I have worked with so many families and am still learning that not everyone thinks like me.
Education is very important to me. I am a strong proponent of the importance of learning in the first five years of life. I spend my days working on age appropriate skills and teaching my own four children, as well as the day care children, how to be self sufficient and capable.
I love to read and write and I spend too much time in my head writing stories and dreaming of being a famous writer. Suite101 thank you for giving me the opportunity to begin traveling the road to my dreams!
